What is DAC7?

The European DAC7 directive requires digital platforms in the collaborative economy (direct peer-to-peer matching via an app or website, with no contractual intermediary) to collect certain tax data on users earning income through them, and to report it annually to the relevant tax authorities.

Is MD Location subject to DAC7?

MD Location operates as an automotive concierge agency: we enter into a management or rental contract with each owner and handle the vehicle's availability to renters ourselves. This is different from the direct peer-to-peer marketplace model, which is what DAC7 primarily targets.

This doesn't exempt you from your own reporting obligations: as an owner earning income through us, you must declare that income yourself to the tax authorities.

What information might MD Location ask you for?

Regardless of the DAC7 framework, we need certain up-to-date information to ensure your income is paid correctly and to meet our own accounting and tax obligations, including:

Identity
Your identity (or company name, if applicable) and your address.
Bank details
Required for paying out your management income.
Tax / VAT number
Your tax identification or VAT number, where applicable.

If any of this information is missing or out of date, it may delay payment of your income. We recommend regularly checking that your file is up to date in your owner dashboard.

When in doubt
Your tax treatment depends on your own situation.

It can vary depending on whether you act as a private individual or a professional, your country of tax residence, and the amount of income involved. If you're unsure about your own reporting obligations, consult an accountant or your local tax authority.
